Cognitive developmental delays are the most common types of developmental disorder. Signs of cognitive developmental delays are recognizable as early as 24 months of age.

Here are a few signs of cognitive delays to look for:

  • easily distracted
  • unable to focus on one task for a few minutes at a time
  • unable to say their full name
  • difficulty naming everyday objects and their uses
  • rarely uses imaginative play
  • avoids engagement with other children and adults
