Visit the CDC’s Developmental Milestones Checklist. Complete an age appropriate checklist for your child in as many developmental domains as you’d like.
Completing the checklist is easy! Simply follow the prompts under each developmental domain and think about all the times you observe your child play. This can be at home, at school, on the playground, at the grocery store, or anywhere you go! Once you complete the checklist, you can determine how many milestones your child has reached.
If there is a specific domain in which you notice your child is not meeting most of the milestones listed, this is something you can discuss with your child’s caregiver or pediatrician to determine the appropriate next steps.
Using the milestone checklists are a great tool for communicating your observations of your child’s developmental progress with your child’s early learning provider. Establishing a regular touchpoint to discuss observations, things you notice, and questions you may have, will help keep everyone up to date on your child’s developmental progress and build a strong team to support you when concerns may arise.
